2685 Candygrams!
Two Hills Mennonite School has done it again - this time selling an incredible 2685 candygrams for Mary's Meals!
For an amazing 7 years running now, Two Hills Mennonite School has been selling candygrams to raise money for Mary's Meals around Valentine's Day. And this is no small task when you are packaging, organizing, and selling thousands at a time!
Mary's Meals volunteer and teacher at the school, Roxanne Pottle, has been overseeing this project through the years, and is always impressed by the hard work and sacrifice of her students. Roxanne says, "I had many students helping me this year. I was so proud of my grade 7 volunteers who gave up a week of lunch hours to sell candygrams. My entire grade 7 classes cut, sorted and organized order forms. My ESL students were very involved as well. My grades 1 and 2 students loved sorting coins while we practiced learning the names and values of each type of coin."
Roxanne and the staff and students at Two Hills Mennonite School truly exemplify what our global movement is all about - we are united by our shared vision of providing a daily meal in a place of education to every child who needs it. Despite our various backgrounds, races, religions, languages and situations, we consider ourselves one big family working towards a common goal. Together, we are helping to transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of impoverished children around the world.
"Mary's Meals is a series of lots of little acts of love. If you put all those acts of sacrifice together it creates a beautiful thing." says our founder, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow.
Thank you to Roxanne and everyone involved in this very special project. Your many acts of love are indeed creating a beautiful thing for hundreds of children.
