Mary’s Meals and Clarins join forces to combat child hunger
Mary’s Meals and global skincare and beauty brand Clarins are announcing a new partnership to address the urgent problem of child hunger.
Clarins has pledged to donate 3 million meals annually to support Mary’s Meals’ work to provide life-changing meals to children at their place of education. This partnership reflects Clarins’ longstanding commitment to supporting children worldwide and contributing to a fairer and more united future. The renowned brand has funded over 41 million school meals since 2011 through charity partnerships.
This joint initiative with Mary’s Meals will be brought to life through POS and in-store activities in the UK, Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, and Asia, and will be supported by the charity’s affiliate offices in several countries. Clarins customers will also be able to get their hands on exclusive complimentary beauty purses and tote bags featuring the tagline, ‘Cultivate kindness’. For every purse or bag taken home by customers (minimum spend applies), Clarins will provide 10 school meals to children experiencing hunger and poverty.
Mary’s Meals operates school feeding programs in 18 countries and reaches more than 2.4 million children daily in regions deeply affected by crises and extreme poverty such as Ethiopia, Haiti, Yemen, Kenya and India. For more than two decades, the organization’s robust and highly effective school feeding model has been helping to alleviate child hunger at school, giving learners the ability to focus and concentrate on their studies, increasing their chances of completing their education. This collaboration with Clarins further strengthens Mary’s Meals’ capacity to fulfil its promise to children amid an unprecedented global food and education crisis – where as many as 783 million people are facing chronic hunger and record numbers of children remain out of school.
Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, Founder and CEO of Mary’s Meals, said: “Whilst more children than ever are in need of nutritious meals in school, we remain determined to work with like-minded organizations and individuals to reach the next child waiting for Mary’s Meals. Clarins’ commitment to a brighter future for our world and its children aligns perfectly with our vision that every child receives a daily meal in their place of education and our desire that those who have more than they need, share some of what they have to make a fairer world possible. We are very excited that Clarins is providing us with such exciting and generous support – and using their significant, international voice – on behalf of the world’s poorest children who are too often forgotten.”
Virginie Courtin, Clarins General Manager, says: "At Clarins, we have always linked our development to the need to help the planet and society. To join forces with Mary’s Meals was a natural step. We are proud to support all these people who do such admirable work to help meet two vital needs of children: proper nutrition and an education.”
